Isn't there a Steam thread in the BBS somewhere? I'd have voted, but I don't have a Steam account... that's a very fine line of potential voters you have to appeal to.
I don't think it'd be a problem if you asked in General, about what folks look for when voting up a prospective game... Maybe ask the question (make the thread), "What games have you Greenlighted on Steam?", and stick with it... add the voting page link after your first or second reply (or whenever you ant to ask about your game directly).
Make nice with people/employees at local game stores, leave some business cards with something simple to type into Steam, to find your game... necessity is the mother of all invention, good luck!
